Women: LSU finally overcomes Tennessee

BATON ROUGE, La. - Seimone Augustus scored 25 and Sylvia Fowles had 17 rebounds as No. 1 LSU beat No. 5 Tennessee 68-58 Thursday night in a Southeastern Conference showdown.
LSU, which beat Tennessee for the first time in two years, snapped the Vols' 10-game winning streak and a 42-game SEC regular-season winning streak dating to a loss at Vanderbilt on Feb. 2, 2002.
The Tigers shot 52 percent, almost 58 percent in the second half, while holding Tennessee to 31 percent from the field.
Scholanda Hoston scored 16 for the Tigers.
Shanna Zolman led Tennessee with 21 points, and Nicky Anosike had 10 rebounds. The Vols outrebounded LSU 44-35, 22-7 on the offensive boards.
The game drew 15,233, most in LSU women's basketball history and the fourth most at the Pete Maravich Center.

NO. 19 MARYLAND 77, WAKE 67: Crystal Langhorne scored 15 to lead a balanced attack that carried the host Terrapins to their fourth straight win.
NO. 20 TEMPLE 68, SAINT JOSEPH'S 49: Cynthia Jordan scored 15 as the host Owls won their school-record 16th consecutive game.
NO. 21 VANDY 66, AUBURN 64: Ashley Earley scored 17 as the host Commodores won their fourth straight.
NO. 23 N.C. STATE 83, GA. TECH 59: Marquetta Dickens scored 17 and Ashley Key 16 as the visiting Wolfpack won its fifth in six games and handed the Yellow Jackets their most lopsided loss of the season.
NO. 24 WIS.-G.B. 81, DETROIT 52: Abby Scharlow scored 17 and reserve Nicole Soulis added 16 points and eight rebounds for the visiting Phoenix.
NO. 25 PENN ST. 67, INDIANA 45: Amanda Brown scored 12 and tied a career high with 11 rebounds, leading the host Nittany Lions.

UF 70, KENTUCKY 59: Tamia Williams had 19 points and Tashia Morehead 15, and the visiting Gators used an 8-0 run late in the second half to break a tie at 54. Bernice Mosby added 12 points and nine rebounds for Florida.
STETSON 91, LIPSCOMB 88 (4OT): Nefertiti Walker scored 12 of her 26 in overtime to lift the host Hatters in game that tied a Division I record by lasting four overtimes. The teams combined for the fewest points of any of the 12 four-overtime matchups.
MIAMI 66, UVA 60: Tamara James had 31 points and nine rebounds and Yalonda McCormick 14 points and 10 rebounds as the visiting Hurricanes won their fourth in five games.
UCF 75, GEORGIA ST. 63: Celeste Hudson had 28 points and seven assists as the visiting Golden Knights won their fourth straight and stopped the Panthers' season-best five-game winning streak.
MERCER 74, FAU 71 (OT): Karen Hickman scored 15 to lead five players in double figures for the host Bears, who overcame an 18-point second-half deficit. Mercer's 7-0 run gave it a 64-63 lead with 1:01 left in regulation before Jackie Brown tied it with a free throw.
BELMONT 72, JU 65: Brandi Miller had 19 points and nine rebounds and three others scored in double figures as the visiting Bruins used a late run to pull away.
