Daily fishing report

The water is clearing; visibility in 80 to 90 feet is between 20 and 30 feet.
Wednesday in 85 feet just off St. Petersburg, some divers ran across good concentrations of grouper and snapper. Some hogfish were speared, but the concentration was a little low. Some flounder were taken just off the wrecks in 55 feet. Visibility was only about 15 feet on these wrecks.
The bottom water temperature is in the mid to upper 50s. Some divers used layering wet suits and good hoods. The warmest used dry suits. These can range from $800 to more than $3,000. The better quality suits cost more, and they are much better for spearfishing. If you want to dive dry, find a dive shop that sells and uses dry suits and receive proper training. Not only will you learn how to wear the suit, control buoyancy and maintain proper altitude and trim in the water, you will learn how to properly care for your investment so it will last for many years.
