Wins mark falls as Bulls keep up NCAA push

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Jessica Dickson had 22 points and junior center Sharon Cambridge had 13 of her career-high 19 in the second half as South Florida set a school record for wins in a season Sunday afternoon with a 68-54 victory over Southern Miss.
The Bulls (17-9, 7-5 Conference USA) topped the 1977-78 team that finished 16-10 with their third straight win overall and second straight on the road. USF, which is seeking its first NCAA Tournament berth, finishes the regular season with two games against Alabama-Birmingham before the C-USA tournament starts March 3.
USF made 15 of 30 shots in the second half after shooting 32.4 percent (11-of-34) in the first, when it trailed by as much as seven twice.
The Golden Eagles (9-15, 3-8) had 24 turnovers, leading to 24 points.
FSU 71, WAKE 69: Holly Johnson hit a 10-foot jumper with 2.5 seconds left to lift the visiting Seminoles to a come-from-behind win. Florida State trailed by as much as 14 in the second half and was down 67-57 with 3:43 left before scoring eight straight, capped by Ganiyat Adeduntan's 3-pointer with 2:02 left. Cotelia Bond-Young's layup put the Demon Deacons up 69-65 before Alicia Gladden sank two free throws and Adeduntan hit a jumper to tie. Wake's Erin Ferrell missed a jumper with 34 seconds left, setting up the winner.
UF 67, MISS. ST. 56: Tashia Morehead had 19 points, and the host Gators scored the first 11. Bernice Mosby added 17 points for Florida, which never trailed and led by as many as 20.

NO.9 MICH. ST. 84, WISCONSIN 60: Lindsay Bowen scored 18 and Victoria Lucas-Perry added 17 as the visiting Spartans (22-3) pulled within one win of tying the school record for a season.
NO.11 RUTGERS 76, NO.10 UCONN 62: Chelsea Newton scored 19 and the host Scarlet Knights ended a 12-game skid against the Huskies, beating them for the second time in seven years.
NO.12 MINNESOTA 71, PURDUE 49: Shannon Schonrock hit all four 3-pointers to help the host Golden Gophers bounce back from a 31-point home loss to Michigan State.
NO.17 TEXAS 64, NO.13 TEXAS TECH 43: Tiffany Jackson got acupuncture before the game to soothe a sore left ankle, then had 14 points and 12 rebounds for the host Longhorns.
NO.15 DEPAUL 84, TCU 81 (OT): Jenni Dant scored 27 as the Blue Demons won their 10th straight and 22nd in a row at home.
OKLA. 77, NO.16 KANSAS ST. 61: Dionnah Jackson scored 18 and Laura Andrews 15, all in the second half, and the host Sooners got a charge when the Wildcats' Claire Coggins shoved Lauren Shoush in the back after a foul.
NO.18 GEORGIA 88, CLEMSON 60: Tasha Humphrey had 25 points and 11 rebounds for her 11th double double this season for the host Bulldogs.
NO.20 TEMPLE 70, R.I. 56: Cynthia Jordan scored 16 and Kamesha Hairston and Jennifer Owens 12 each as the host Owls won their 17th straight and earned a first-round bye in next month's Atlantic 10 tournament.
NO.25 PENN ST. 63, ILLINOIS 56: Jess Strom had 20 points and Tanisha Wright 19 as the visiting Nittany Lions beat the Illini for the fifth straight time.
