BROOKSVILLE - The Sheriff's Office is looking for a man who walked into a gas station with a handgun Thursday morning and made off with an undisclosed amount of money.

The robbery occurred about 5:50 a.m. at the Chevron station at Powell Road and Broad Street, south of Brooksville.

Sheriff's spokesman Capt. Alan Arick said the suspect, who wore a grey skull cap with "Bong" across the front, approached a female clerk and pulled a handgun from his waistband. He ordered the woman to empty the cash register then left in a black sport utility vehicle, which authorities think was driven by a woman. A surveillance camera recorded the incident.

The vehicle, which had a yellow magnetic ribbon showing support for the troops, was last seen traveling east on Powell Road, Arick said.

Anyone with information about Thursday's robbery is urged to call the Sheriff's Office at (352) 754-6114.
