Panel to review case of suspended bus driver

By Times Staff Writer
Published February 18, 2005

A school district committee that oversees the driving records of school staffers will meet on Tuesday morning for a hearing on Ronald Gagliano, the suspended driver who overturned his school bus while transporting children to Moton Elementary School on Jan. 26.

The 13-member Safe Driver Plan Review Committee has the authority to recommend the termination of drivers for serious violations. Gagliano has been charged with careless driving by law enforcement authorities who said he was distracted by children; eight of the 24 children on board suffered minor injuries.

According to district records, Gagliano had a history of reprimands from district officials and complaints by parents who said he couldn't manage the children on his bus. He is slated to appear before the committee at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the plant operations center on Mobley Road.
