Artistic skaters bring moves to Spinnations

More than 200 artistic roller skaters, coaches and their families will participate in the third annual Presidents Day Invitational Feb. 19-21 at the Spinnations Skating Center in Port Richey, presented by the Florida Skating Academy.

Figures, solo and team dance, creative solo, pairs and singles skating are among more than 80 events scheduled for competitors ages 3 into their 70s.

Figure events will begin Saturday at 7 a.m., followed by an exhibition at 10 by three-time U.S. Free Dance champions Mark Cropley and Rebecca Pallesen. The Junior World Class Singles Short program will begin at 11. A Senior World Class Singles short featuring U.S. World Team member Joshua Rhoads will follow. Rhoads earned the bronze medal at the 2004 U. S. Championships in August. Dance and singles events will continue throughout the day until 6 p.m.

Junior World Class Pairs and Junior World Class singles and Senior World Class Singles skaters will skate their long program on Sunday. The Junior World Class Dance Teams also are scheduled for Sunday. Doors open at 7 a.m. with events running until 9 p.m.

Events continue from 8:20 a.m. until noon on Monday.
