'Peace chamber' visionary set to speak at university

ST. LEO - Author and artist Joseph Rael is coming to Saint Leo University for two events this weekend.

Rael is an American Indian from New Mexico and is a descendant of the Southern Ute and Picuris Pueblo tribes. He holds a master's degree in political science but is better known for his study of the sacred and promoting peace throughout the world. He is the author of numerous books on spirituality and says a vision he had years ago inspired the idea of constructing "peace chambers" throughout the world.

There are now more than 35 of them around the world, used by communities for chanting and praying for world peace.

Tonight, Rael will give a lecture on creativity and inspiration at 7 p.m. in the Selby Auditorium. And Saturday he hosts a daylong workshop titled "Archetypal Nature of Language: Sound, Energy and Vibration" from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Lion's Lounge of the McDonald Center.

The workshop is free, but participants are asked to make a donation.

For information, contact Kurt Wilt, professor of English, at 352 588-8839 or e-mail him at kurt.wilt@saintleo.edu
