Beaches notebook

A special music program will be presented at 4 p.m. Sunday in the sanctuary of the United Church of Christ Church of the Isles, 200 24th Ave, Indian Rocks Beach.

The concert will feature members of the chancel choir, the "no-name" gospel singers and others. For information, call 595-1038.

Bidding for a silent art auction of famous Indian Rocks Beach coastal cottage paintings at Guppy's, 1701 Gulf Blvd., will end Saturday when winners will be announced.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Indian Rocks Beach Action 2000 group.

St. Pete Beach

The annual Fellows Banquet of St. Petersburg Theological Seminary will be at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the Tradewinds Island Grand Resort, 5500 Gulf Blvd.

Marianne Fischer, author and messianic Jewish speaker, will share her experiences as a survivor of the Holocaust in Hungary.

The Kids & Kubs team makes a rare appearance Sunday to honor St. Pete Beach's baseball heritage at a free exhibition game beginning at 2 p.m. at Hurley Field in Pass-a-Grille.

The Kids & Kubs' visit also marks the grand opening of the new Florida Humanities Council "Beach Ball" photo exhibit, developed by St. Pete Beach Library & Cultural Affairs Administrator Roberta Whipple. The exhibit features 91 years of baseball in the South Pinellas barrier islands.

The display will be set up initially in the Warren Webster Community Center, 1501 Pass-a-Grille Way (next to Hurley Field). More "Beach Ball" events are coming in March.

South Pasadena

The Fountains at Boca Ciega Bay, 1255 Pasadena Ave. S, will sponsor a fashion show with Hospice at 1 p.m. Friday in the auditorium.

Madeira Beach

Julie McConnell, a former great books leader of St. Petersburg College, will host a book discussion on Mary Shelley's Frankenstein at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the Gulf Beaches Public Library conference room.

Redington Beach

The Redington Beach Property Owners Association will hold a membership drive and chili fest at 6 p.m. Thursday at Town Hall, 105 164th Ave. N.
