Is mall sign a Target tease?

By Times Staff Writer
Published February 23, 2005

PINELLAS PARK - In yet another hint that Target plans to settle into the Shoppes at Park Place, a white sign with a red bulls-eye has sprouted at the northeast corner of the mall property.

The sign indicates that the red bulls-eye store will open Oct. 9. The sign says nothing about Target, but a red bulls-eye is the chain's logo. Target has remained silent about its plans.

Passers-by of the former ParkSide mall, 7200 U.S. 19 N, can also glimpse yellow towers that will become the new front of the 16-screen cineplex.

The theater is expected to reopen in April. It was to reopen last month, but the hurricanes delayed construction.
