Young woman's body found in lake

THONOTOSASSA - Investigators were trying to identify a young woman whose body they pulled out of Lake Thonotosassa Friday, an possible victim of homicide.

The woman was in her teens to early 20s, weighed 130 pounds, is white and 5-foot-2 with dark brown hair and has two distinctive tattoos, said Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Debbie Carter.

One tattoo, on the woman's right calf, is the name "Donna" in black, block letters outlined in red, Carter said. The other tattoo is below her waist and is made up of a butterfly, flowers and the name "Greg."

The Sheriff Office's dive team was called to the lake to retrieve the body, which was seen about 1:40 p.m. by a fisherman, Carter said. She gave no details about how the woman died other than to say she suffered blunt trauma to the upper body.
