Parking of RVs, boats and trailers may be restricted

By Times Staff Writer
Published March 2, 2005

PALM HARBOR - Pinellas County officials hold the first of three public meetings today on a proposal to toughen parking regulations in residential areas. Residents will have a chance to learn about and comment on the proposal from 5 to 8 tonight in the cafeteria at Palm Harbor University High School, 1900 Omaha St. The proposal would ban RVs, boats and trailers longer than 38 feet in unincorporated residential areas. It also would only allow RVs, boats and trailers less than 38 feet long to be parked in side or rear yards, and they would have to be parked on durable surfaces. No RVs or boats would be allowed on the road or road shoulder, and no cars or trucks could be parked on grass. In addition to tonight's Palm Harbor meeting, residents also can go to Osceola High School at 9751 98th St. N in Seminole on Thursday, and Dixie Hollins High School, 4940 62nd St. N, St. Petersburg, on March 10. Those meetings also are scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. The County Commission is expected to vote on the issue after the meetings.
