Associated Press
Published March 2, 2005

ALPHA - A Florida Panhandle man abducted two children Tuesday after fatally shooting his grandmother, the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office said.

An Amber Alert was issued for Loretta Swearingin, 17, and Jonathan Sampson, 12.

Both children were likely abducted by Edkah Marshall, 19, who should be considered dangerous, the Sheriff's Office said.

Loretta has red hair, blue eyes, is 5 feet 7 and weighs 145 pounds. The Sheriff's Office did not provide a description of Jonathan.

Marshall is 5 feet 11, 140 pounds, with brown hair and eyes.

Authorities said they might be traveling in a 1999 teal Honda Accord.

Jonathan, the 12-year-old, is Marshall's uncle, the Sheriff's Office said. No further details on the relationship or the crimes were released.

Alpha is about 51 miles west of Tallahassee.
