Clearwater's Crystal Hunt earned her first Daytime Emmy Award nomination Wednesday for her portrayal of evil teen Lizzie Spaulding on the CBS soap Guiding Light.
Hunt, 20, who joined the program in 2003 and commutes between Clearwater and her New York apartment, was among five nominated in the Daytime Emmy Awards competition for outstanding younger actress in a drama series.
"I was really nervous all day yesterday, waiting for the nominations, it was hard," Hunt said Wednesday in a telephone interview from New York. "You hear things, but you don't want to get excited."
Hunt, daughter of Nada and Clark Hunt, said she is devoted to the Guiding Light cast, but would also like a feature film or primetime television role.
Hunt appeared in her first pageant when she was 3 months old and was in her first commercial three years later.
On Guiding Light, she made a quick impression, earning a nomination for Soap Opera Digest's Best Villainess Award. She appears on the show with her real life dog Roxy also a Clearwater native and the two are featured on her Web site, www.crystalhunt.net
Another soap, All My Children, scored big Wednesday, with 18 nominations, but the show's best-known actress, Susan Lucci, was snubbed.
The View and The Ellen DeGeneres Show both had 11 nominations in talk show categories.
Martha Stewart, about to be released from prison, got three nominations, and Postcards From Buster, the PBS children's show in the news for an episode featuring a lesbian couple, was nominated for best children's series.
Awards will be given out by the National Television Academy on May 20 and televised by CBS.
General Hospital and Guiding Light each got 13 nominations, as did children's show Sesame Street.
Jane Pauley, whose high-profile talk show has been a disappointment for NBC, was not nominated.
The Lifetime Achievement award will go to Merv Griffin, who hosted his own show and created Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy!
