Soldier dies in Iraq crash

Associated Press
Published March 4, 2005

POMPANO BEACH - Army Sgt. Julio E. Negron, 28, of Pompano Beach was killed when the Humvee he was riding in crashed in Bayji, Iraq, Monday, military officials said Wednesday.

He was one of two soldiers stationed at Fort Carson, Colo., who died from crash injuries. They were in the 360th Transportation Company, which transports fuel. Negron, a native of Puerto Rico, joined the Army in 1997 after moving to Pompano Beach from Maryland, the family said. He was the youngest of three brothers who were all soldiers.

He completed a first stint in Iraq in April, and returned with the 360th in December.
