The Eagles remained perfect at 7-0 in Southern States Football League play Saturday, beating the Orlando Rage 37-7 at Orlando Dr. Phillips High. It was the largest margin of victory all season for Hernando.

"I wouldn't call it complete, our offense moved the ball, small penalties backed us up," Dowdell said. "It wasn't complete, but it's a start."

Hernando got out to a 28-0 halftime lead on the Rage (3-4) behind three touchdown passes from Central graduate Anthony Crescenzo. Terrance Clark (Springstead) also had a 3-yard touchdown run.

With the win, Hernando clinched the NFC South title. The Eagles have one division game remaining March26 against the Tampa Bay Barracudas, who have two division losses.

"It's a plus, but it wasn't even talked about after the game. The players didn't say "we are division champs,"' Dowdell said. "It's another win."

For Hernando it was another big game for the defense. The seven points allowed matched its season low and for the fourth time the Eagles got a defensive touchdown. In the fourth quarter, Kevin Thomas returned an interception 30 yards for a score.

The Miami Magic City Bulls are the other unbeaten team in the SSFL, moving to 7-0 after a 56-12 win over the Polk County War Eagles.
