FISHING
MIXED BAG: The Old Salt Fishing Club hosts the 18th annual T.V. John Trolling Tournament on March 19 at Madeira Beach Municipal Marina (503 150th Ave.), and participants must register by Thursday. There is a captains meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday at the marina. Entry fees are $45 for members of the club, $55 for nonmembers. There are prizes for three species: grouper (gag or red), king mackerel and Spanish mackerel. There is also a $500 prize for the largest little tunny (bonito), and a color television will be awarded to the angler who catches the most species. Call (727) 497-1060 for information.
PADDLE POWER: Osprey Bay Kayaks and Outfitters will hold its No-Motor Paddle Fishing Tournament on March 19. All contestants must attend the captains meeting at 7 p.m. March 18 or attend a meeting at 9 a.m. March 19 before fishing. Registration is $60, $75 after 6 p.m. Monday. DIVING
A LITTLE HELP: The Boca Grande Pass Enhancement Fund is sponsoring a Boca Grande Pass cleanup March 17-18 and is looking for certified divers to help. The project will clean debris from the pass before the annual tarpon migration. The group will meet at 8 a.m. both days and expects to be done by 1:30 p.m. Call (239) 461-7518.
REGULATIONS
RED GROUPER: The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission revised its daily recreational bag limit for red grouper. The limit is two red grouper per person each day in the Gulf of Mexico and gulf federal waters, which begin 9 nautical miles offshore. The rules are intended to help rebuild red grouper stocks. The minimum size limit remains 20 inches. In the Atlantic, the bag limit remains five fish per person.
BOATING
VOLUNTEERS: The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary in St. Petersburg needs qualified volunteers. Flotilla 72, located at 1300 Beach Drive SE, is in need of classroom instructors, boat crewman, coxswain (sailors) and computer-literate administrative volunteers. Call (727) 823-3753 or (727) 521-3534.

NOW ON SALE: Check out the marine flea market at St. Petersburg's Spa Beach today through Sunday. Many things having to do with the water and boating are on sale. The event coincides with the Cajun Crawfish Festival at Vinoy Park. The market opens at noon today, at 8 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.
