Submerged car yields dead body

By Times Staff Writer

ST. PETERSBURG - Police on Thursday found an 80-year-old woman's body inside a submerged car at Maximo Park.

The woman's identity had not been released as of Thursday night, though police said her death did not appear suspicious. St. Petersburg police were called to the park off 34th Street shortly before 9 a.m. Divers found the vehicle, then the woman inside.

"We're not precisely sure how the vehicle ended up in the water," police spokesman George Kajtsa said. The body had no sign of trauma, he said.
