Pedestrian hit by car dies of his injuries

ST. PETERSBURG - A pedestrian who was struck by a car Saturday night while walking on 34th Street S died Sunday from his injuries, authorities said.

Donald Waters, 49, was crossing the 1300 block of 34th Street S at 7:38 p.m. when he was struck by a 2000 Mitsubishi Mirage driven by Bobby Clark, 60, St. Petersburg police said.

Waters died at Bayfront Medical Center at 11:30 a.m. Sunday.

There were no witnesses to Saturday's incident and no charges have been filed, police said.

Investigators are waiting for the results of toxicology tests to determine if alcohol was a factor.

Anyone with information about this crash was asked to call Officer Randy Krause at 893-4829.

Tampa woman's body found behind apartments

TAMPA - A Tampa woman was found dead behind an apartment building near Temple Terrace on Saturday, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.

Tammy Michelle Fickey, 31, of 1921 N 57th St., was discovered at 13613 N 21st St. by a resident at Oak Forest Apartments, said sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Carter.

Fickey's body was found about 7:30 p.m. Carter would only say that she suffered trauma to her upper torso. Carter said Fickey was released from state prison on Jan. 19.

According to jail records, Fickey had been arrested in Hillsborough at least three times since 2001 on charges that included prostitution, possession of cocaine, aggravated assault on a victim over 65 and robbery with a firearm or deadly weapon.
