TAMPA - Detectives think a man who burglarized a Circle K store over the weekend is the same one who stole from similar convenience stores at least seven times since December, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office reported.
About 12:43 a.m. Sunday, a burglar threw a brick through the front glass door of the Circle K at 5202 W Sligh Ave., deputies said. The man entered the store, "took numerous cartons of cigarettes," deputies said, then fled.
Deputies said Sunset Market at 15526 N Florida Ave. was burglarized Dec. 4, Feb. 1, Feb. 6 and Feb. 18; Sunset Market at 18440 Livingston Ave. was burglarized Jan. 19; and Marathon at 15202 Livingston Ave. was burglarized Feb. 18 and March 1.
During Sunday's Circle K burglary, surveillance tapes captured the man wearing a black leather jacket, long black pants, a black skull cap with a white visor and white sneakers, deputies said. He's described as a black man between 30 and 40 years old with a hefty build. Anyone with information about the burglaries is asked to call the Hillsborough Sheriff's Office at (813) 247-8200.
4 taken to hospitals after bus crash as precaution
TAMPA - Four students were taken to area hospitals Monday morning after a minor accident involving their school bus and one other car. But Hillsborough County Fire Rescue spokesman Ray Yeakley said the hospital visits were a precaution - the students were mostly complaining of pain where their seat belts rubbed up against them during the collision.
The accident happened about 8 a.m. at Debuel and Willow Creek roads in the Lutz area. Yeakley said neither driver was hurt in the crash.
