TAMPA - Police were investigating the armed robbery of an out-of-state jewelry wholesaler who said robbers stole a briefcase full of jewelry.

The victim, 26-year-old Abhishek Shah of Flushing, N.Y., was leaving Awesome Jewelry at 6305 S Dale Mabry Highway just before 4 p.m. Wednesday and putting a briefcase full of jewelry into his vehicle when he was approached by three robbers, according to Tampa police.

The robbers held him at gunpoint and demanded the briefcase, police said. They then fled in a 1994 dark blue and gray Dodge Caravan with a Tennessee tag of SDV0011, police said. The caravan was later found abandoned at 3807 Elmwood Ter.

Shah was not injured, police said.

Police described one robber as a white man between the ages of 25 and 30 wearing a dark hooded sweat shirt with his face covered. The second was described as a Hispanic man about the same age, wearing similar clothing and carrying a small silver revolver.

No description was given on the third robber, who was dressed the same way.
