Area community theaters are active with productions about the last days of Jesus Christ and an Arthur Miller drama. For lighter fare, there's a bedroom farce about mistaken identities.
At Playhouse 19 community theater in Crystal River, the musical Jesus Christ Superstar tells the story of Christ from shortly before Palm Sunday to his crucifixion.
Playhouse 19 takes a modern approach to the Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice musical. Modern clothing, choreography and staging keep the local presentation in the spirit of how Webber and Rice wrote the popular score, said director Jacki Hull.
Songs include I Don't Know How to Love Him and Superstar.
