2005 Citrus County Fair

Talent search showcases local entertainers

The annual search delivers winning performers with a variety of musical styles.

Local entertainers will cover a wide range of music, from country to jazz, during the Citrus County Fair. The entertainers were selected during the fair's annual talent search, sponsored by the Citrus County Parks and Recreation office.

The winners were Wesley Chase, George Robinson Nodine, Brittany Adams, the Citrus High Swing Band, Jillian Schaffer and the rock band Carousel.

Chase is a native Floridian and a 1985 graduate of Citrus High. He is a member of the Hernando Chapter of the Orange Blossom Country Music Association and wants to pursue a professional singing career. He will perform at 5:10 p.m. Monday, 4 p.m. Tuesday and 10:30 a.m. March 26 at the Citrus County Auditorium.

Nodine said he has had a passion for music since early childhood. He began singing in elementary school and joined the school concert band. By age 12, he was a regular karaoke singer. While at Citrus High, Nodine sang with the show choir Breeze and competed in many singing contests throughout Florida.

He graduated from Citrus High in 1994 and joined the Marine Corps. When he completed his tour of duty, he returned to Citrus County and resumed his singing career. He recently competed in the Nature Coast Idol and the Jacksonville regional contests of Nashville Star. He will perform at 7 p.m. Tuesday, 9 p.m. Thursday and 9:30 p.m. March 26 at the auditorium.

Adams is a 16-year-old sophomore at Citrus High. She has been singing since elementary school, and is a member of the chorus at Citrus High. She wants to pursue a college degree in performing arts. She will perform at 10:30 a.m. Friday and 10 a.m. March 26.

Schaffer lives in Hollywood, Fla., and her family is planning a move to Floral City in the summer. She plans to attend the Berkeley Preparatory School in Tampa. She is an accomplished equestrian and singer. She aspires to a become a professional singer. She will perform at 9 p.m. Saturday.
