KEY RETURNERS: QB Wyatt Sexton, TB Leon Washington, TB Lorenzo Booker, WR Willie Reid, WR Chris Davis, OT Mario Henderson, OT David Overmyer, LB Ernie Sims, LB A.J. Nicholson, LB Buster Davis, LB Sam McGrew, FS Pat Watkins, CB Antonio Cromartie.
NOTABLE INJURIES: C David Castillo (hand), OG Matt Meinrod (knee), TE Donnie Carter (knee), DT Brodrick Bunkley (ankle), DE Willie Jones (hip), OT Cory Niblock (shoulder), FB B.J. Dean (Achilles').
SPRING PRIORITIES: The Seminoles need to sort out the QB position. Sexton has a huge experience edge, which looms large with an opener against Miami, but Drew Weatherford, the former Land O'Lakes star, and Xavier Lee are both far more physically gifted. ... With the top three WRs, Chauncey Stovall, Craphonso Thorpe and Dominic Robinson (110 catches, 1,528 yards, nine TDs) gone, the next tier must emerge. Said coach Bobby Bowden: "We've got some good young kids. (St. Petersburg Catholic's) Chris Davis ought to be about ready to turn it on. Willie Reid ought to be about ready. If those guys just stay healthy, I'm not going to worry about them at all." ... Three probable OL starters are recovering from injuries, but this will be a group under the microscope. New OL coach Mark McHale brings new schemes and terminology. One big change will be going with a set left and right OT and not a strongside and weakside (no tight end) OT.
PRACTICE SCHEDULE: Today and Monday (shorts), March 23 (shells), March 24 (half scrimmage), March 28 (shells), March 30 (half scrimmage), April 1 (shells), April 2 (full scrimmage), April 4 and 6 (half scrimmages), April 8 (shorts), April 9 (full scrimmage), April 11 (shells), April 13 (half scrimmage).
GARNET AND GOLD GAME: April 16, Doak Campbell Stadium. time TBA.
