Children can hunt eggs Saturday at city park

SEMINOLE - Children from 3 to 12 years old are invited to join the Seminole Easter Egg Hunt at Seminole City Park, 7464 Ridge Road, at 9 a.m. Saturday. The free event will include a visit from the Easter Bunny. Parents are encouraged to bring their cameras. For more information, call 391-8345.

The Seminole Recreation Division will show a classic family movie, The Rookie, at Seminole City Park, 7464 Ridge Road, at 7 p.m. Friday. The Rookie is a true story of a former Tampa Bay Devil Rays baseball player who makes a dramatic comeback after being a high school teacher. The event is free and open to the public. The movie will be projected onto a screen in the park. Popcorn and beverages will be available for purchase by Seminole Fire and Rescue Local 2896. Bring a blanket or chair for comfort.
Because of an earlier rainout, the Family Night Out - Movies Under the Stars series will be extended to show E.T. on April 1. For more information, call Steve Malla, recreation program coordinator, at 391-8345.

An Easter sunrise service will begin at 6 Sunday on the grounds of the Garden Sanctuary Funeral Home and Cemetery, 7950 131st St. N. The service will be officiated by the Rev. Steve Rosczewski. A continental breakfast will be served after the service. For more information, call 391-0121.

The Rotary Club of Seminole will host its third annual "Spring the Kings" kingfish tournament Saturday at Gators on the Pass, Treasure Island. A mandatory captains meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at Gators on the Pass Liar's Tent.
The entry fee is $200. The event is a 100 percent payout of cash and prizes to the anglers, with the number of entries determining the number of places paid.
Proceeds will benefit the Rotary Club of Seminole Charitable Fund. This year the fund donated $30,000 to the Seminole Recreation Center park, and helped children affected by the summer hurricanes. For more information, call Capt. Jim Fogle at 895-8110 or visit www.seminolerotary.org

A spring break camp is being held at the Recreation Center, 9100 113th St. N, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Friday. Activities include games, arts and crafts and a field trip. Lunch is not provided. Fees for the "Hip Hop Into Spring" camp are $60 for residents and $75 for nonresidents.
Registration for the Recreation Center's summer camp begins Saturday for city residents, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nonresidents can sign up at 8 a.m. April 2. The center will offer two camps: the Club Fun Daze for children in kindergarten through fifth grade, and Teen Extreme for students in the sixth through ninth grades.

The Recreation Department will host a trip to Sugar Babies on March 30 at the Show Palace Dinner Theater. The vaudeville-style musical comedy will be filled with classic skits and songs such as Sunny Side of the Street and I Can't Give You Anything But Love. The trip begins at 10:45 a.m. and returns at 4:45 p.m. The cost is $55 and includes a buffet meal, the show and bus tip. A recreation card is required. For more information, call 391-8345.

The fourth annual Earth Day in the Park, sponsored by the Seminole Tree Advisory committee, will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 9 at Seminole City Park, 7464 Ridge Road. The event is free *and open to the public.
Activities will include a home and garden expo, children's arts and crafts, a bounce house, a fossil dig, garden face painting by the Uptown Clowns, the Seminole Library spelling bee, live oldies music by the Suburban White Men, free Home Depot gift card, raffles and a barbecue lunch sponsored by the Seminole High School Marching Band Boosters.
The tree committee will give away plants and mulch for the first 400 people who attend. For more event information, call 391-8345.

The 2005 Seminole Stampede 5K, 10K and 1-mile race will be held April 16 at Walsingham Park.
The advance registration deadline is April 2. Registration the day of the event begins at 7:20 a.m. The 1-mile run begins at 8 a.m.; the 5K and 10K runs, at 8:20 a.m.
The annual race event is sponsored by the Seminole Chamber of Commerce. Free race T-shirts will be provided to those with race number stubs. The Chamber of Commerce also will sponso r A Tribute to Teachers Breakfast at 7:30 a.m. April 14 at Seminole Middle School. The chamber will honor a representative teacher and schools from the Seminole area that make outstanding contributions to children. The event will also feature live entertainment and a digital presentation of teachers and schools. Ron Stone, associate superintendent for human resources and public affairs for the Pinellas County school system, will serve as master of ceremonies.
The breakfast costs $8. It's $25 more to sponsor a teacher. Seminole Middle School is at 8701 131st St. N. For reservations, call the chamber office at 392-3245.
