Hot Tickets: 'The Wiz' in Sarasota

Teresa Stanley, right, plays Dorothy, and Porter Anderson III is the Scarecrow in The Wiz, the rock version of The Wizard of Oz that was made into a 1978 movie with Diana Ross and Michael Jackson. The West Coast Black Theatre Troupe production is directed by Nate Jacobs (who also plays the Wizard) and choreographed by Reggie Kelly. It opens tonight and has 10 performances through April 3 at Booker VPA, 3201 N Orange Ave., Sarasota. $23. (941) 363-9300.
