TAMPA - A 13-year-old girl was killed Saturday when a car struck the motorcycle she and her father were riding.

Her father suffered severe leg injuries that were not life threatening. He was taken by helicopter to Tampa General Hospital.

Tampa police did not release either victim's name.

The car driver, Jonathan McKeithan of Tampa, 19, received a ticket for violation of right of way.

According to the Tampa Police Department, the girl and her father were driving north on Bruce B. Downs Boulevard at about 1:45 p.m. McKeithan, heading south, turned left into the Cypress Run Apartments, 15501 Bruce B. Downs, cutting off and hitting the motorcycle.

The girl and her father flew from the motorcycle. The girl died at the scene.
