House to honor deceased member

TALLAHASSEE - The body of Rep. David Coley, R-Marianna, will lie in state in the House chambers from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. today.

A public memorial service will be at 2 p.m. in the House.

Rep. Coley, 43, died Friday night after a battle with liver cancer. The House will open with a short memorial service for Rep. Coley on Tuesday, and the funeral will be at the Johnson Health Center at Chipola College in Marianna at 10 a.m. Wednesday.

House Speaker Allan Bense and the Rev. LaVon Pettis of Evangel Worship Center will officiate at the funeral.

Before his election to the House in November, Rep. Coley worked as an aide to Bense and three other lawmakers.

Survivors include his wife, Marti, and three children, Kristin, Vance and Hunter. Memorial contributions are being accepted to the David Coley Memorial Fund, Evangel Worship Center, 2645 Pebble Hill Road, Marianna, FL 32446.
