Baylor, LSU advance to Final Four

One No.1 seed advanced. One was upset. And half the Final Four has been filled.

Simone Augustus scored 24 as LSU, the top overall seed in the NCAA women's basketball tournament, defeated Duke 59-49 in the Chattanooga Region final and reached the national semifinals for the second straight season.

Meanwhile, Baylor advanced to its first Final Four after beating top-seeded North Carolina 72-63 in the Tempe Region final.

LSU (33-2) and Baylor (31-3) meet Sunday in Indianapolis. The other semifinal will be determined tonight when No.1 seed Tennessee and No.3 seed Rutgers meet in Philadelphia and No.1 seed Michigan State and No.2 seed Stanford meet in Kansas City, Mo.

The title game is April5.

LSU outscored No.2 seed Duke 29-19 in the second half and held it to its fewest points this season.

Sylvia Fowles added 13 points and 11 rebounds off the bench for the Tigers, who had beaten their first three tournament opponents by an average of 36 points.

Sophia Young had 19 points and 11 rebounds as No.2 seed Baylor extended its win streak to 18. The Bears led by as many as 19 in the second half against North Carolina, which had won 16 in a row and was trying to match its men's team, which advanced to the Final Four on Sunday.
