JOHN WESLEY WHITE, 76
Toronto

White was an associate evangelist with Billy Graham until a stroke crippled his speech in 1996. At first, he could say only one word: Jesus. Now, "I only stutter," he says slowly, demonstrating his point. White came to Pinellas on vacation with his son. They ended up in a Pinellas Park motel, only to discover on television that Terri Schiavo's hospice was close by. White says he opposes gays, abortion and euthanasia and feels deeply for Schiavo. "I'm here . . . to support . . . that woman . . . yes, yes."
