TAMPA - Hillsborough sheriff's investigators arrested a convicted sex offender from Seminole Wednesday afternoon, six weeks after a 15-year-old girl told authorities he exposed himself to her as he sat in his pickup.

According to a sheriff's report, Gene Squire, 50, of 11700 Park Blvd., Apt. A-302, approached the teen Feb. 18 in the 9700 block of Bay Street in northwest Hillsborough and started talking to her.

Investigators say Squire exposed himself, then gave her his business card for Superior Gourmet, Steaks, Seafood, Pork, Chicken before fleeing when another car drove up.

The teen reported the encounter to the Sheriff's Office. Investigators contacted Squire under the pretense of meeting him to make a meat purchase. Jail records show he works in the stock department at Superior Gourmet.

Wednesday afternoon, investigators met Squire at Waters Avenue and Sheldon Road and arrested him. He was held without bail in the county jail on one count of lewd and lascivious exhibition, a second-degree felony.

Florida Department of Law Enforcement records say Squire was sentenced to three years in prison in 1999 for a Pinellas County incident of lewd and lascivious behavior in the presence of a child.
