LUTZ - A garden planted by children in the Hillsborough Extension Service's Junior Master Gardener program will be dedicated at from 3 to 4 p.m. today at Nye Park, 630 Sunset Lane in Lutz. The 4-year-old program, supported by Lutz's annual guv'na fundraising competition, teaches children after school about the environment. At Nye Park, they have cultivated native plants, including many that attract butterflies and are blooming now.

Keystone Web site wins praise: It's a hoot

KEYSTONE - The Keystone Civic Association's Web site, www.keystonecivic.org has been named the best among local neighborhood groups. Association member Donna Riski, who created the site, received a plaque March 12 at the Hillsborough County Neighborhoods Conference. The Web site opens with the hoot of an owl. It is kept up to date with the association's news, e-mail addresses and links.

Reclaimed water supply still cut off for thousands

UPPER TAMPA BAY - About 6,000 Hillsborough County reclaimed water customers in the Upper Tampa Bay area will not have service until at least early next week.

Workers at Northwest Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant are still trying to bring the reclaimed water - treated wastewater that's piped to customers for irrigation - into compliance with standards necessary for its use. The supply was shut down earlier this week.

The service interruption affects residential and commercial customers in an area bounded by Sheldon Road and Gunn Highway west to The Eagles subdivision, and N Mobley Road to just south of Waters Avenue. Besides the Eagles, the interruption impacts other large developments such as Westchase, Westchester, Mandolin and Fawn Ridge.

The county provides an average of 4-million gallons per day of reclaimed water to people in the affected area.

Water Department officials say it will be at least early next week before the reclaimed water is available again.
