It's time to do a home evaluation
By Times Staff Writer
Published April 4, 2005
Readers, it's time to give your house a report card.
Where does it get straight A's? Where does it fail? What will you do differently in your next house?
We invite you to tell us what you love or hate about your house, what you'd never do again and what you'll absolutely do next time. We're focusing on the floor plan, rooms and features, not on your experiences with your builder. We will use your helpful tips in an upcoming story.
Specifics are important. If you wish you'd bought a bigger house, tell us where you'd put the extra square feet (another bedroom or bathroom, larger family room). Consider such things as floor plan, traffic patterns, noise, sightlines (can you see the kitchen sink from the front door?), energy efficiency, features you paid for but never use and those you didn't select but wish you had (spa tubs? conservation homesites? laminate vs. granite?). Tell us why these things work for you or don't, how they make it harder or easier to live in the house.
Send us your thoughts, and include your name, day and evening phone numbers, address and e-mail. Send e-mail to features@sptimes.com put HOUSE in the subject line. Or write to HOUSE, c/o Home section, St. Petersburg Times, P.O. Box 1121, St. Petersburg, FL 33731. We need to hear from you by April 10.
