Two men accused of heroin distribution

By Times Staff Writer

TAMPA - Undercover detectives say they seized $68,400 worth of heroin and arrested two Tampa men after a monthlong drug investigation, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.

Alex Torres-Corchado, 29, of 4706 Barrett Court and Jose Raymond Colon, 23, of 1806 E 131st St. were both arrested Tuesday night and each charged with trafficking in heroin and conspiracy to traffic in heroin, the Sheriff's Office said.

About 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday, deputies said that Torres-Corchado and Colon delivered 114.6 grams - about 4 ounces - of heroin to an undercover detective at E Busch Boulevard and N 50th Street.

Detectives with a search warrant went into Torres-Corchado's home at 1706 Barrett Court, where they discovered an additional 141.1 grams of heroin, the Sheriff's Office said.

The sheriff's Major Violators Unit and the Tampa Police Department worked together in the monthlong undercover drug investigation.

Jail records indicate that Torres-Corchado was arrested on March 11 and charged with obtaining property with a worthless check. He posted $150 bail and got out of jail the next day, records show.
