Computer leads to arrest on sex charge

Agents say nude photos on a laptop result in charges of sexual battery on a minor.

Published April 9, 2005

TAMPA - A man already facing computer pornography charges in Tallahassee was arrested at his northwest Hillsborough home Thursday on charges he had sex with a girl whose nude pictures were found on his laptop computer.

Donald Wilson, 38, of 9118 Bayou Drive, is charged with one count of capital sexual battery on a victim under 12 years old, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

Agent Mike Duffey, with FDLE's computer crimes center in Tallahassee, said the arrest Thursday stems from evidence gathered after Wilson's arrest in Tallahassee last year.

Agents arrested Wilson Dec. 26 after he traveled to Tallahassee for what he believed was a rendezvous with a 14-year-old girl he met online, according to Duffey.

The girl was actually Duffey, pretending in chat rooms to be an underage girl as part of an Internet crimes investigation.

Agents charged Wilson with computer pornography and transmitting harmful material to a minor, Duffey said. He posted bail and was released. That case is pending.

After the December arrest, agents seized Wilson's laptop computer and found pictures of him engaging in sex with a Hillsborough County girl who was under 12 years old, according to Duffey. They also got a search warrant for Wilson's residence.

Wilson, listed in jail records as a technician for defense product manufacturer TRAK Microwave in Tampa, is being held without bail in the Orient Road Jail, records show.
