TREASURE ISLAND - Team Constant Chaos, with Travis Maxwell, Danny Clark and Casey Bryde, won the 11th annual Suncoast Kingfish Classic with a 38.72-pound kingfish Saturday. Clark caught the fish late in the day at the "South Jack" area using a blue runner on a flat line.
"We did lots of riding around before we finally went to South Jack, where everybody else was fishing," Maxwell said. "We only caught little fish until 3 o'clock, when the big fish hit."
The team won $10,000 for its efforts in the overall division, and it also won $1,000 for winning the 23 foot-and-under boat division.
Sue Beers, fishing with her husband, Eric Beers, on Sumorado, caught a 35.20-pound kingfish to win the women's division.
"I could tell by the way the reel sounded it was a good fish," Sue Beers said. "I just did the best I could."
In the youth division, Jack Vasilaros, 15, won with a 17.52-pound kingfish. He fished with Nate Thomas, Eric Moser and Harve Hunt on Team Everglades.
