ZEPHYRHILLS - The City Council on Monday evening annexed a 64-acre property at Wire and Pretty Pond roads that is being developed into a 140-home neighborhood.
The annexation had been delayed because of concerns about roads and drainage. But after meeting last week with city officials, the developer agreed to designate the streets as private, meaning city crews won't be responsible for maintaining them.
Additionally, a towering pile of dirt on the property will have to be removed within 30 days. Nearby property owners had been complaining about dust from the construction.
The development, called Crestview Hills, overlooks the 300-acre Gore's Dairy, which also is slated for development. Developers say homes in Crestview Hills will be mainly three-bedroom, two-bathroom, priced in the "low $200s."

The city's take from the sale, after proceeds are divided among five other original investors, will be about $46,000.
