LACOOCHEE - A spate of Dade City shootings weeks ago may be linked to a gun firing early Sunday at Rumors nightclub, authorities said.
Timothy Cornelius Clemons, 25, of 28600 Fifth Ave. in Zephyrhills was arrested Sunday afternoon and charged with aggravated assault.
According to a Pasco sheriff's report, Clemons threatened Alfreddie Elmonise, 21, of Dade City with a gun while the two were at the club about 2 a.m. Sunday.
Elmonise said Clemons asked him why he shot up Andre Hammond's house in Dade City on Feb. 26-27. Elmonise said he denied shooting at Hammond's house and walked away. Clemons then approached Elmonise again, the report said, brandished a gun, threatened to shoot Elmonise and then shot at the floor. The club's guards told deputies patrons started fleeing the club.
Elmonise told deputies that he feared for his life and was planning to leave the area to an undisclosed location. Elmonise was injured in a Feb. 27 shooting, and Hammond is the accused shooter, charged with attempted murder. That occurred hours after Hammond told Dade City police someone shot up his Tuskeegee Avenue home, an incident which is still being investigated.
