LECANTO - Dennis Gene Himmel, 18, turned himself in at the Citrus County jail early Friday after authorities accused him of hitting his brother, according to an arrest report.

Himmel of Inverness is the son of school superintendent Sandra "Sam" Himmel. He was arrested on a charge of domestic battery. Authorities say he struck his 20-year-old brother, Christopher, several times April 12 at the family's home. The younger Himmel was previously arrested Dec. 19 on charges of possession of cocaine and marijuana, according to court records. He was placed on pretrial intervention and 11/2 years of probation. He was being held without bail.
