Tampa man accused of kidnapping and rape

TAMPA - Police have arrested a Tampa man in connection with the abduction and sexual assault of a 23-year-old woman late Friday.
Tampa Police spokesman Joe Durkin said the woman told investigators she was walking near 40th Street and Fowler Avenue about 11:45 p.m. Thursday when someone forced her into a car and drove her to the University Motel, 9408 N Nebraska Ave., where she was sexually assaulted. The woman said her attacker let her go, and she later called police, who went to the motel room looking for the suspect. Police arrested Jesus M. Gonzalez-Irizarry, 27, of 5246 Tennis Court Circle. He is being held without bail at Orient Road Jail on charges of kidnapping and sexual battery.
