The Role Models Foundation, based at the University of Florida, has selected two Pinellas County students as winners of its Student Environmental Stewardship Community Service Award based on written essays.
Timothy Hamilton Stripling, an 11th-grader nominated by William M. Sanders of Keep Pinellas Beautiful in Clearwater, and Matt Autherment, a ninth-grader nominated by Ellen Welsh of the Canterbury School of Florida, will receive $100 to assist in their efforts to help the environment and their community.

Students from five high schools have been chosen to compete on Pinellas County's Academic Team All Stars this weekend in Orlando.
Jason Conage-Pough and Ben Kauffman from the Center for Advanced Technologies at Lakewood High, Cody Wang from Palm Harbor University High, Caitlin Carey from East Lake High, Stephen Morse from Seminole High and Mike Beck from Northeast High were selected based on their performance at the Pinellas County Academic Team competition.
In a contest similar to Jeopardy, the students will field questions in mathematics, science, world language, social studies and humanities to win cash awards.

Amanda Nicole Crane, a junior at Northeast High School, has been nominated to attend a National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine July 5-14 in New Orleans.
The 10-day program will introduce her and other outstanding high school students to professionals from the nation's top medical centers.
Crane is a member of the National Honor Society, the national Honor Roll, Who's Who Among American High School Students, the National Society of High School Scholars, St. Anthony's Medical Explorers and Student Government.
She is on the school's varsity swim, soccer and track teams, volunteers at Great Explorations Hands On Museum and coaches the gymnastics team at Bayside Gymnastics.

Andrew Fuller, a ninth-grade student at Admiral Farragut Academy, has been selected to attend a LeadAmerica 2005 Congressional Student Leadership Conference at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Va.
CSLC is a college-accredited invitational leadership program open to high school students with a record of academic achievement and extracurricular school or community involvement activities.

Jennifer Marie Langheier, daughter of Vicki and Dr. David Langheier of Clearwater, has received a scholarship to attend the 2005 Americanism Conference at Freedom Foundation in Valley Forge, Pa., from American Legion Auxiliary Unit 273, Madeira Beach.
The organization previously sponsored Langheier to Girls State at Florida State University.
A senior at Admiral Farragut Academy, Langheier has been accepted at St. John's College in Annapolis, Md., where she will major in math and philosophy and minor in physics. She plans to pursue a career in law or politics.

The Pinellas Education Foundation honored students from Pinellas high schools who received Derby Lane Scholarships sponsored by the St. Petersburg Kennel Club at a luncheon on April 8.
The students were selected for their personal and academic achievements, leadership and service to school and community. The $750 to $3,750 scholarships can be used at community colleges or universities within the state.
Marie Atkins from Largo High and Michelle Newton from Gibbs High will receive four-year renewable scholarships for $4,000 each. Other Derby Lane Scholarship winners are:

Additionally, Adam Cutting from Lakewood High received a T.L. Weaver Scholarship as the child of a St. Petersburg Kennel Club employee.
