ART CONTEST WINNERS: Central Florida Community College announces the winners of the 2005 Student Art Showcase. About 50 novice and experienced student artists participated in the judged event, exhibiting more than 90 works that were created in art classes during the fall 2004 and spring 2005 semesters.

Nancy Maskovitz won Best of Show for Sharpes Ferry Bridge No. 2, Monet Plus Four; Erin Messing won an Award of Distinction for Self Portrait No. 1; Toni Nast won an Award of Merit for Two Girls Running in the Surf; and Andrew Wade won an Award of Honor for Dirge.

Five students received honorable mention: Toni Nast, Gisela Zuelch, Elisa Jorgensen, Renee St. Leger and Sibyl Smith.

Purchase Awards were presented to the following students whose works were bought for the college's permanent collection: Nancy Maskovitz, Cindy Myers, Jan Hyde and Renee St. Leger.

The exhibit runs through May 6 and admission is free. The Webber Center gallery is open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Call (352) 873-5800.
