Vanguard is led by junior Kelly Parrish, who won the 1,600 and 3,200 state titles. The Panthers are sparked by Amy Rundio (4x400, 4x800, 800), Tara Haddock (4x400, 4x800, 400, high jump), Lisa Bonadonna (long, triple, high jump, pole vault) and Shaneatha Gates, Kristen Dyer, Sharlyn Aponte and Victoria Mele in distance events and the shot put. Top area runner Taylor Cooke of Lecanto has been out for a month with a foot injury and may compete. For Citrus, watch for Cindy Henry (100, 200, long jump, 4x100), Kayla Mast (100, long, triple and high jump, 4x100), Kaela Fitzpatrick (1,600, 800, 4x400), Marcy Mills (discus), Sarah Morelli (discus), Jesilyn Cortes (discus, shot), Erika Wilson (400) and Amber Hoover (100 and 300 hurdles).

The Panthers' Dan Epstein said it is the first year since he's been coaching that the team has a chance to finish in the top three. "We've done considerably well compared to previous years, because we have people to score in every event," Epstein said. Other Lecanto athletes to keep an eye on are Todd Maloney (4x100, 400, 4x400), Richard Chaney (high jump, long, triple, 110 hurdles, 4x400), Phillip Labarbara (long, triple, 4x100), Brian Burns (pole vault, won seven area meets), Felton Kitchen (110 and 300 hurdles, high jump), Dustin Elder (1,600, 3,200, 4x800), Wayne Saxer (4x800, 400, 800), Joe Carrigan (4x800, 400). The top 'Canes are Sean Radziercz (100, 200), Dane Moore (400), Dylan McManama (400), Nick Farrington (1,600), Daniel Dorn (110 and 300 hurdles).
