Published April 24, 2005

BRANDON - A 28-year-old Valrico man was killed Friday when his motorcycle struck a car in the intersection of Bloomingdale Avenue at John Moore Road.

Michael Rosetto was driving his Suzuki Vortex west on Bloomingdale Avenue about 7:40 p.m. when a white Chevrolet Cavalier headed east turned left on yellow at the intersection.

Rosetto struck the passenger side of the Cavalier, driven by Lewis Abanil, 34, of Ruskin, and flew off his motorcycle, Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Detective Lisa Haber said. He was not wearing a helmet. Rosetto was flown to Tampa General Hospital, where he died.

Jeanette Abanil, 45, a passenger in the Cavalier, was taken by ambulance to Tampa General, where she was treated for injuries not considered life threatening.

Lewis Abanil was ticketed for violation of the right of way. Haber said the Sheriff's Office is continuing its investigation.
