Midlife survival

By Times Staff Writer
Published April 26, 2005

The midlife crisis: It used to be considered mainly a male phenomenon. Not any more. The accompanying story explains some of the highs and lows associated with this transitional time in a woman's life.

If you have gone through a midlife slump, what did you do to survive? Did you go back to school, learn to water ski, ride a Harley, adopt a pet, learn a new language, get a divorce, become a volunteer, buy a truck?

If you have a story about surviving a midlife crisis - the good, the bad and the not-so-pretty sides of it - tell us, in 250 words or fewer. We will print a sampling of responses in an upcoming issue of Seniority. Who knows, maybe your story will help another woman realize that the best is yet to come.

All essays chosen for publication must include name, age and daytime phone number which will not be published. Please indicate if you agree to be photographed. Send your response to: Seniority Sound Off, St. Petersburg Times, P.O. Box 1121, St. Petersburg, FL 33731, or e-mail floridian@sptimes.com (put Midlife in the notes area). Deadline is May 5.
