Woman defrauded cancer network, deputies say

By Times Staff Writer
Published April 29, 2005

TAMPA - A Largo woman has been accused of using credit cards and cashing checks belonging to her former employer at a cancer network, spending tens of thousands of dollars to "live like a rock star," officials said.

Coral Anita Dorman, who turns 27 today, was charged with carrying out an organized scheme to defraud and with identity theft, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.

Dorman left the Florida Prostate Cancer Network in Tampa in March after a little less than a year employed there, and was accused of buying purses and jewelry, making car payments and paying cell phone bills, all on the network's dime, investigators said.

She spent the money in Hillsborough and Pinellas counties, deputies said. She was arrested Thursday in Seminole. The Office of Statewide Prosecution is handling the case. Dorman was held at the Pinellas County Jail on Thursday night with no bail.
