CLEARWATER - Police are trying to identify the body of a man found floating off the Courtney Campbell Parkway on Friday afternoon.

The body was described as that of a 6-foot white male, 25 to 35 years old, weighing 230 to 250 pounds. He had a shaved head, a mustache and goatee, and was wearing sunglasses with a strap.

A woman driving on an access road about a quarter of a mile west of the Hillsborough County line, on the south side of the parkway, saw the body and called police around 12:28 p.m. Friday, said Clearwater police Sgt. Greg Stewart.

The body was floating next to the shore, "right up against the rocks in the water," Stewart said. No identification was found on the body.

The Medical Examiner's Office removed the body from the water. Stewart would not say if the man had any visible injuries.

It was not known how long the man had been in the water, nor how he got there.

Anyone with information on a missing person similar to that described should call the Clearwater Police Department at 727-562-4242.
