LECANTO HIGH PANTHER PLAYERS will present American Musicals Through The Decades at 7 p.m. today and Saturda y and 2 p.m. Sunday at Curtis Peterson Auditorium. The production is a revue featuring some of the best-known songs from Broadway musicals such as Guys and Dolls, Oklahoma and Showboat. Tickets are $5 in advance at the school administration office today, and $7 at the door.

GALERIA SAN SEBASTIAN will host a pine needle basket demonstration from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday with Inverness pine needle artist Randa Grein. The workshop is free, and pine needle basket starter kits will be offered for sale. The Galeria San Sebastian is at 107-A W Main St., Inverness, in the Courthouse Square. Call 344-3838.

A DINNER DANCE for the Citrus Abuse Shelter Association will begin at 6 p.m. today at the Citrus Hills Golf & Country Club. Tickets are $50 each for the dinner and dancing to a disc jockey and a silent auction. Call CASA at 344-8111.

LOOK AHEAD

CITRUS JAZZ SOCIETY will have its next jam session at 1:30 p.m. May 15 in the Hampton Room at the Citrus Hills Golf & Country Club. The session features selections by the society's local musicians. A donation of $5 for nonmembers is collected. Annual memberships are $40 for couples, $30 for singles. Musicians interested in jamming can call Tony Caruso at 795-9936.

DESOTO'S "RIVER OF DISCORD' Celebration is scheduled for June 18 and is sponsored by the Dunnellon Area Chamber of Commerce as that area's contribution to the Nature Coast Driving Tour. The celebration will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. across from the Wal-Mart on U.S. 41 (designated DeSoto Trail) and is at no charge. This will be an educational, interactive use of displays and lectures focusing on the European discovery in 1541 of the Dunnellon area, and backward on a time line to prehistoric times. It will commemorate DeSoto's mention of the Dunnellon area in his diary and the historical events that occurred at that time, as well as highlighting Florida's culture and history prior to its discovery by European explorers.

THE BEVERLY HILLS RECREATION ASSOCIATION is holding a Country Dance from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. on May 13. Music by the Starburst Band. Cake and coffee on the house. Tickets are $5 at the BHRA office at 77 Civic Circle, in Beverly Hills. Call 746-4882.

PIG ROAST: The West Citrus Elks will hold their annual Pig Roast Picnic and Dance on May 28 to celebrate the beginning of Memorial Day weekend. This year the event will be in the ballroom with a picnic buffet from 3 to 5 p.m. Entertainment by Diana and Mitch will be from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Tickets cost $15 for Elks and guests. No tickets will be sold after May 22.

SHAKE IT UP: For the Kids, a benefit to support the Citrus County chapter of the All Children's Sertoma Therapy Center, will be at 6 p.m. June 4, at Chateau Chan Sezz restaurant, 207 N Apopka Ave., Inverness. The lawn concert features Bill Lindsey, an Elvis impersonator, and music by the Shakers playing early rock 'n' roll. Singer Haley Albaum, 11, is also scheduled to perform. Tickets are $10. JAZZ SINGER: Kathryn Selvester and the Uptown Sound wil l perform at the Art Center Theatre at 7:30 p.m. May 21. The fundraiser for the Art League Cultural Center features singer Selvester and her band covering romantic standards, some light jazz and a tribute to the military. Uptown Sound features Selvester on keyboard and vocals, Tony Maltese on drums and Jeff Walker on bass. Tickets are $15 at the Art League Cultural Center box office at the intersection of County Road 486 and Annapolis Avenue, across from Citrus Hills. HOSPITAL CONCERT: Citrus Memorial Hospital in Inverness is sponsoring a concert in observance of National Hospital Week at 2 p.m. May 14 at Curtis Peterson Auditorium at Lecanto High. The concert will be themed as "Salute To Our Community" and features the New Dawn Singers, an energetic group that will put on a rousing patriotic show. Tickets are $17 for open seating or $20 for reserved seating, available in the CMH SHARE Club/Public Relations office, at the corner of Grace Street and Osceola Avenue in Inverness on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information call 344-6513.

A "SENIOR PROM' for adults will be from 7:30 to 11 p.m. May 13 at the Citrus Hills Golf & Country Club. The dance features live music by Sunset Sounds. INVERNESS ARTIST Laurie O'Shea will be staging her senior thesis exhibit at the Arts Center, St. Petersburg as part of her graduation from Eckerd College. Selected images of her work have been featured in the Arts Center exhibition announcement, as well as its Web site. Using the scanner as her camera, and the computer as her canvas, O'Shea transforms vintage photographs into works of art by combining them with her own photographs and paintings. Her exhibit, "Ancestral Images," opens today and runs through Thursday. The artist will be on hand for the opening reception from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday. The Arts Center is at 719 Central Ave., St. Petersburg.
