Williston defeated Hernando 4-1 thanks to a three-run rally in the sixth inning.

Tied at 1 heading into the inning, the Red Devils (17-3) loaded the bases before a double to left-center cleared them. The Leopards (17-9) couldn't recover.

Senior centerfielder Sophie Gill scored the Leopards' sole run after getting on first with a slap hit and reaching third on an error. She scored on Chelsea Chipoletti's pop fly.

"Of course I'm sad, because this is my last season," Gill said. "But there are a lot of young players on the team that will have another chance to go to the playoffs."

A: Lions overwhelmed

Just like last season, Hernando Christian's trip to the postseason lasted five innings. The Lions lost 14-4 to Lakeland Santa Fe Catholic, the same team they faced last year in their region quarterfinal loss.

The Lions (10-4) were behind 10-4 on Thursday when the game was stopped in the third inning because of rain. The night of rest didn't do them much good, though, as they were overmatched by the Crimson Hawks (13-8).

Hernando Christian won its second straight district championship last week.
