BOCA RATON - After blowing a 19-point fourth-quarter lead, trailing by 1 and facing fourth and long with 41 seconds left, Northeast's season came down to a play called scrambled eggs.

"I faked a post and went for the corner," Vikings receiver Kim Clark said. "It wasn't really much of a play; it was just a matter of finding the open zone."

Clark caught Jessie Bowman's pass at the 4, giving the Vikings a first down. On the next play, Bowman swept around left end for the winning touchdown, lifting Northeast (13-1) 25-20 over Davie Nova.

Bowman and Clark lifted the Vikings into today's semifinal matchup at 2 p.m. at Spanish River High.

"We got a little too conservative in the second half," second-year coach Dan Dotter said.

Up 13-0 at half, the Vikings tacked on another score when Bowman found Nancy Lee in the corner of the end zone to make it 19-0.

But the Titans (13-3), led by the running of quarterback Keshia Bath, scored three quick TDs.

Clark, who intercepted two passes and scored two touchdowns, made a huge catch early in the final drive for a 22-yard gain, then caught a 30-yarder on fourth and 16 that put them on the 4.

Nova got the ball back with 15 seconds left, but Clark got her second pick on Nova's second play.

East Lake wins in overtime

BOCA RATON - East Lake freshman quarterback Alison Burnham ran for a 10-yard score on the first play of overtime as East Lake advanced to the semifinals with a 25-19 overtime win over Daytona Beach Seabreeze.

The Eagles face unbeaten Lake Worth at 3:30 p.m. today.

It was East Lake's second overtime contest in three games. The Eagles outlasted Tarpon Springs in triple overtime in the district semifinals.

Burnham finished with 58 yards rushing while splitting time with Nina Brojan. Brojan had 137 yards passing and two TDs. Burnham also did the job on defense, picking off Seabreeze senior quarterback Tiffany Urqhart three times.

"We knew she had a strong arm and liked to throw it deep," Burnham said. "I was just fortunate to be back there to pick them off."

With East Lake down 19-12, Burnham ran for 37 yards on three carries before throwing a 3-yard TD to Amy Carty. The conversion pass to Amanda Wheat forced overtime.

On the first play of OT, Burnham ran 10 yards around left end for the score. On Seabreeze's first play, Whitney Eberhardt sacked Urquhart. The Eagles then forced three straight incompletions.
