Medical student wins lobbyist title

By Times Staff Writer
Published May 8, 2005

A 26-year-old medical student from St. Petersburg emerged Friday as "Miss Rotunda," an honorary title conveyed each year by the lobbyists who work the halls of the state legislature.

Carrie Mewha, daughter of St. Petersburg High teacher Jim Mewha, was this year's winner.

"It's been an interesting experience," she said Friday night as the session lurched to a close.

Mewha is a senior medical student at the University of Miami who has spent seven weeks working as an intern for the Florida Medical Association.
